Above & Beyond are back with a brand new progressive house track with longtime friend Marty Longstaff. The highly anticipated tune, “Chains,” marks the trance trio’s third collaboration with Longstaff, bringing glorifying energy and high-powered crescendoes throughout the composition.
The four previously worked together on “Flying By Candlelight” and “Tightrope,” which was released on Above & Beyond’s eighth album Common Ground. This anthem was first released in their Group Therapy 450 celebration at The Drumsheds in London back in September of 2021. After the trio unveiled “Chains” for the first time live, the track quickly became a fan favorite, with many eager to hear the studio version.
“Chains” is a beautiful example of Above & Beyond’s signature sound, blending ethereal melodies with driving basslines and emotive chord progressions. The result is a track that is both moving and dancefloor-friendly, sure to be a staple in the group’s live sets for years to come. With “Chains,” Above & Beyond once again prove that they are at the forefront of the progressive house genre, delivering a track that is both innovative and timeless.
Longstaff’s soaring vocals add an additional layer of emotion to the track, making it even more impactful. His lyrics speak to the feeling of being chained down by your past and the desire to break free. The sentiment will resonate with many listeners, making “Chains” a truly special track.
