The 2024 GRAMMY Awards nominations have been announced, featuring several electronic music artists getting their first nominations. The ceremony, scheduled for February 5 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, will introduce new categories like Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording.
Fred Again.. leads the dance music nominations with three, also nominated for Best New Artist. In the Best Dance/Electronic Recording category, nominees include Aphex Twin with ‘Blackbox Life Recorder 21f’, Disclosure’s ‘Higher Than Ever Before’, James Blake for ‘Loading’, Romy and Fred Again.. with ‘Strong’, and collaboration between Skrillex, Fred Again.., and Flowdan on ‘Rumble’. This is the first GRAMMY nomination for both Flowdan and Romy.
The contenders for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album are James Blake with ‘Playing Robots Into Heaven,’ The Chemical Brothers for ‘For That Beautiful Feeling’, Fred Again..’s ‘Actual Life 3’, Kx5 (Deadmau5 and Kaskade) with ‘Kx5’, and Skrillex’s ‘Quest For Fire.’
