Two decades after its inaugural release, Ricardo Villalobos is revisiting his iconic ‘Alcachofa’ album, enhancing it with three novel tracks. The revamped edition, set to launch later this month, will now occupy four vinyl records, up from its original trio, offering fans a fresh musical journey.
While the original 2003 vinyl excluded the tracks ‘Bach To Back’, ‘Y.G.H.’, and ‘Waiworinao’, aficionados might recall that two of these were a part of the CD version. ‘Alcachofa’, a gem from the Playhouse catalogue, gave the world timeless Villalobos tracks such as ‘Dexter’ and ‘Easy Lee’. This isn’t the album’s first revival; Playhouse reintroduced ‘Alcachofa’ in 2011, and in 2015, Villalobos, under his Sei Es Drum label, put out versions of ‘Easy Lee’ and ‘Dexter’.
Fans can mark their calendars for October 27, as the renewed ‘Alcachofa’ will be making its appearance through Perlon.
