The Electric Zoo Festival, which many had eagerly anticipated, unfortunately had its opening day canceled. While the initial reason given was ‘global supply chain disruptions’, further investigation revealed a more intricate situation. It turns out that permit issues played a significant role in the cancellation.
According to industry insiders who are well-versed with the touring circuit, the root of the problem lies in the festival organizers’ oversight from the previous year. Sources from Billboard reported that there was a significant failure on the part of the organizers to settle their dues with the vendors from last year’s festival.
This negligence had a cascading effect as it led to a noticeable lack of seasoned concert professionals who were willing to associate themselves with this year’s event. But that’s not where the challenges ended for the Electric Zoo Festival. City officials, upon inspecting the venue, raised concerns about safety issues specifically related to the main stage.
Before any permits could be granted for the event to proceed, these officials demanded that the festival management address and rectify several significant problems. Only once these safety standards were met would they consider giving the green light for the festival’s commencement.
